"The current monitoring our electricity bills shows that our electric power consumption has been halved," said City Planner Corua Merilee Lawson. "In fact, we received a letter from Consumers Energy to declare last month to justify why our electricity consumption has declined so drastically. Current energy bills are showing a reduction in power usage over 50%."

A Corua has received two grants totaling $ 100,000 Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (delegates) to help finance the LED Display project.

"The fact that they were able to use their existing posts meant that they could stretch their grant money and the change more than double the number of lights that thought they could."

Panasonic has introduced the second generation of its D6 Zone LED Retrofit Kit that aims to replace legacy HID lights.
35 and 55W kits can replace up to 175W lights street lighting and area.

The retrofit kits come in a choice of 5600K, 5000K, 4100K and color temperature settings. Osram 55W kit offers a rectangular beam pattern type III and type V pattern of circular (see SSL luminaires should deliver reliable patterns of the beam in outdoor applications for more information on the beam patterns). The 35W kit is only available with a circular pattern.
Adaptation kits are rated for 50,000 hours life. Panasonic claims that the kits provide up to 68% in energy savings in connection with the HID lights they replace. The kits have an outer diameter of 6.5 inches and Osram states that fit into most existing fixtures lighting the area, and can be used in pole heights to 30 feet
